The cover's a bit tatty, but this a nice playing original domestic mono copy of the large label debut of the greatest saxophonist who ever lived. The album was issued a year earlier in Denmark, but this is the first American issue. Originally the plan was to cut this record (which was done for the radio show "Jazz '63") with Cecil Taylor's trio, but the schedule got fucked, so this Two Danes, two expat American's session came to be. With a pianist, the sound is, perforce, more contained than it would later become, but this session -- three standards and a tribute to Cecil sounds goddamn GREAT. Personnel: Albert Ayler, Niels Bronsted, Niels-Henning Orsted Petersen, Ronnie Gardiner Catalogue Number: Debut Series 6016 Grading Notes: scw, srw, cover seams are taped all around, name wobc, 3 songs checked with pen, but truly not that bad.
